London is one of the great eating cities. Whether it’s a restaurant, bakery or wine bar, the food, design and energy are so good, I always come back to New York with fresh eyes and a full suitcase.

I tried breaking these into categories — British, Italian, seasonal Med, etc. — but quickly realized that the best London restaurants aren’t so tidily sorted. (Actually, they’re often a bit of all three.) Here you’ll find things roughly arranged by quadrant, because London is a beast! Want to see this list in one place?
