About xtine

Hi! I’m Christine Muhlke, a culinary consultant and recovering editor. After more than 20 years in magazines as an editor (Sassy, Paper, T, The New York Times Magazine and Bon Appétit) and writer (Airmail, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Lucky Peach, Travel + Leisure, Food + Wine and more), I’ve learned a lot about the food, travel, fashion, culture and design worlds.

Editing and pitching helped me develop a spidey sense that allows me to both spot the genuinely good things that people will soon be talking about and to determine what a particular person might love.

In 2016, I launched Bureau X to help companies bring their stories to life, using my decades of connections to pair them with the right people to make it happen. Whether it’s programming the inaugural New York Times Food Festival, relaunching Dansk with Food52, helping the founders of Frieze open a restaurant in London or creating culinary experiences for VICs of my favorite brand (NDA alert!), it all comes down to one thing: Taste.

Every day, I get texts and emails from clients and friends asking where they should eat, travel and shop, what they should buy for a picky loved one and my take on their choices. I hope that this newsletter answers those questions while introducing you to new things that delight you and yours.
